Two NY Wineries Win Awards

"Two Finger Lakes wineries captured New York's most coveted wine awards Tuesday: A US$14 semi-dry Riesling from Anthony Road Wine Co. was voted best wine, and Sheldrake Point Vineyard took the winery of the year title.
One of America's oldest wine-and-grape regions, the Finger Lakes has garnered a global reputation for its Rieslings during the last decade, and the versatile grape is now the widely grown vinifera variety in west-central New York.
The 2008 Riesling produced at Anthony Road, a family winery on Seneca Lake's western shore, beat out 804 other white, red and sparkling wines to win the Governor's Cup silver chalice at the New York Wine&Food Classic.
Top winery Sheldrake Point, which opened in 1997, is along nearby Cayuga Lake. It won accolades for its 2007 Riesling, 2008 late-harvest Riesling and cider ice wine.
"I think it's 12 years of mostly doing the right things and a good situation" in a fabled microclimate created by deep, slender, hill-framed lakes, said Canadian owner Bob Madill, 62, a native of Ottawa.
The 24-year-old competition, sponsored by the New York Wine&Grape Foundation, is open to all of New York's 260-plus wineries." By Ben Dobbin (CP)

Wine Clubs

Does anyone here belong to a wine club? You know when you receive monthly installments of great wine from California, Austrailia, Italy, etc. I am not currently in one. Although many of my friends belong here: http://www.wine.com/v6/wineclubs/

Tell me what you think. Is it worth it? What club do you use?
